In 2005, he publicly stated his belief that governments around the world were hiding evidence of extraterrestrial visits to Earth. Hellyer claimed that multiple alien species had been interacting with humanity for decades, some even cooperating with governments. His bold statements brought significant attention to the UFO community, making him one of the highest-ranking government officials to publicly endorse the existence of extraterrestrial life.
He passed away on August 8, 2021 in Toronto.
